Why is Ooddles good food?

We believe that the Ooddles range is simply the best you can feed your pet - we use healthy, nutritious, natural ingredients with carefully chosen vitamins and minerals, to help keep your pet in super condition. Our recipes use only proper meat which is either fresh or freshly prepared, no cheap fillers and absolutely no nasties whatsoever.

We have higher meat content in all our dry food and wet food, and our Raw food is a complete food with added ground bone and superfoods.

All our food is grain-free and hypoallergenic, and we carry this through into our treat and chew range too.

We have plenty of different recipes and formulations available.

What type of research has Ooddles undertaken?

Qualified professionals develop the Ooddles foods - nutritionists, product developers and vets - to determine the best nutrition possible. All our foods must be safe and go through rigorous testing.   All our manufacturing partners are fully approved, and we are happy to work with our selected partners on our formulas to bring the very best foods for all dogs.

Everything we do is always grain-free, hypoallergenic and contains no nasties.

Feeding Guides

All our food has feeding guides on the actual product; we also list it on our website under all products.

Feeding guides are only a guide, it very much depends on the activity of our dog, all dogs are different, and you need to monitor the weight of your dog and correct it accordingly if your dog appears thinner, or overweight.

There is no fixed amount of food, but we can and do give you the average feeding per day, per product.

All our products are different, and all feeding guides reflect this.

Is Ooddles food just for crossbreeds?

When we started making dog food back in late 2018, we did make it especially for the needs of crossbreed. Still, due to demand, we have undertaken further development to make our foods suitable for all breeds, all sizes, so every dog can now enjoy Ooddling.

Why do you offer raw as well as dry?

We understand not one-way suits all, and Ooddles is all about bringing you high-quality premium dog food, no matter which way you prefer to feed your dog.

Our Raw food, we call it BARE Ooddles. It is a complete meal, with added bone and superfoods. We also have information for you to follow to transition from dry food feeding to Raw feeding.

Like all our foods, it is a premium quality, natural and no nasties.

What is the meat content of your soft wet food?

Some are 65%, and others are 70%, this is really high meat content for soft wet food, we see many with as low as 8%. Always check what your feeding. Look at the ingredients on the label, and the first ingredient listed is the highest, and it will give you a percentage of meat.

Just like all our foods,  our soft wet food is very popular, premium quality, grain-free, hypoallergenic and no nasties. Perfect to add to kibble.

As your products are grain free, does this mean my dog will be susceptible to Dilated Cardiomyopathy(DCM)?

No, DCM concerns are associated with those grain-free products containing high levels of legumes such as peas or lentils, other legume seeds, or potatoes listed as primary ingredients. The high level of legumes can cause a reduced intake of Taurine which can impede the cardiac muscles and cells.
Ooddles foods have high levels of human-grade meat; this would not deplete the levels of Taurine in a dogs system.

What should I feed if my dog has been neutered/spayed.

Your dog could gain weight; it is common for this to happen once your dog has been neutered/spayed.

Keep an eye on your dog's weight, reduce the food accordingly if you see weight gain.

How to weigh your dog.

Vets have scales available... but a good top tip is below.

Jump on your scales at home without your dog, make a note of your weight, then jump back holding your dog, and then subtract the two figures for you to know your dog's weight.

Do you have samples?

For all our dry food, we do yes.

You can order 3 bags 100g each for £5.

Complete Start Ooddling wizard, and we shall recommend all the dry food suitable based on your replies about your dog, click on any product, and you will see samples available to order, add to basket and checkout with ease.

For raw and wet food, it is impossible to break up to a sample, so sadly not on these lines.

How to transition to raw feeding?

How to change over to raw feeding.

There is much conflicting information about this, but we recommend you follow option 1, we call it cold turkey, however, if you feel (and you know your dog best) that you would prefer to do this gradually, then we cover this below.  There is no right or wrong way, there are success stories on slowly swapping and success stories on the cold turkey.

Option 1 – Cold Turkey

Feed your dog the last meal of their old food the night before, leave it 12 hours and make the switch to raw dog food the following morning.

Option 2  - Slow Option

Gradually phase it in over 7 days. Increasing the raw and reducing your dry food.

Option 3 – Alternate

One meal is raw, and the other meal is dry.  Then gradually feed more raw and less dry meals.

How will you know how they’re doing?

The best indicator is appetite. Many dogs will self-regulate on raw food (that previously wouldn’t on kibbles) because of the high levels of satiety.

Ultimately, you’re going to be looking at body condition. Look for a good covering of muscle over the hips, shoulders and back, and you should be able to feel but not see the ribs.

This is harder in a dog with a longer coat but familiarity with weekly grooming sessions will help you get to know your dog’s overall body condition.

If they’re starting to add an extra layer of internal insulation, then reduce the amount given daily until you reach a happy balance.

Remember, all dogs will vary in what they need, even though the seasons.

How To Feed Raw and Handling Info

How to Feed

The night before, simply take out one 500g container from the freezer, put into your fridge to defrost, you should put the container inside a Tupperware container so no juices leak out for safety. Then simply put the food out for your dog, some may prefer to leave it in room temperature for 15 mins.

Food will last 4 days in your fridge.

How to store and handle raw food.

Cross-Contamination

When defrosting the raw food put it into an airtight Tupperware container at the bottom of the fridge below any cooked food or vegetables. Same as how we store raw meat in the fridge.

Wash the pet’s bowls after every meal, in very hot water/dishwasher.

Wash your hands after handling raw dog food

Clean worktops, utensils, all surfaces and spills, using hot soapy water, if you use cloths, wash them in a very hot wash.

Remember this is no different to how you deal with raw meat juices in your kitchen at home, it has all the same risks.

Download and read PFMA handling leaflet HERE.

What do I do when my frozen Ooddles Raw arrives?

You will have a DPD tracking number so you will know what time it is arriving. (You can change the time to suit you)

When it arrives at your home, unpack the box and put straight in the freezer. You can then take one 500g container of food out and let it defrost in the fridge. We suggest in a Tupperware box. Store it in the fridge as you do with normal raw meat. It will last in your fridge for 4 days after being defrosted. Please ensure you put it at the bottom of your fridge.

If the food has partially defrosted by the time you are ready to put it in the freezer, you can refreeze it safely as long as the food is still at 4c or below.

If it has reached room temperature it will keep fresh in a fridge for 2-3 days or 4 days from frozen.

We hold all our meals at -18c for at least 10 days before shipping.

What is grazing?

Grazing is when you leave your dog food out all day, and your dog eats when it wants to.

You can only do this with dry food, never raw or wet as it goes off quickly, but dry food is fine to use if you prefer this method of feeding.
